The Systemic Shift Collective
Architecting systemic change can often feel like a lonely endeavour.
Many of us are working within institutions, communities, policy environments, and organisations that recognise the need for transformation but continue to operate within systems that reward short-term thinking, fragmented approaches, and individual expertise. The result is that researchers, practitioners, activists and leaders committed to systems change frequently find themselves doing this work in isolation.
The Systemic Shift Collective was created as a response to that reality.
It is a growing network of researchers, practitioners and change-makers committed to advancing systems thinking, systems leadership and systems transformation across a range of sectors. While our interests vary, we are united by a shared belief: that the challenges we face today cannot be solved through isolated interventions or organisational silos. They require new ways of thinking, collaborating and acting.
The Collective is rooted in the idea that meaningful change happens through relationships. We learn from one another, challenge each other's assumptions, share practical insights, and create spaces where complexity can be explored honestly rather than simplified away.
Why the Collective?
The Systemic Shift Collective emerged from my own journey of developing and applying systems thinking in real-world settings.
Over the past several years, I have worked across policy, commissioning, public services, research and organisational development, testing ideas about funding ecosystems, organisational change, and systems transformation. Throughout this journey, one theme has remained consistent: progress is accelerated when people can think together.
The Collective provides a space for exactly that.
It is designed to connect individuals who are navigating complexity in their own contexts and who want to explore new approaches to change. Rather than positioning systems thinking as an abstract theory, we focus on how it can be used in practice to address real-world challenges.
Centring culturally responsive Leadership and Knowledge
A core ambition of the Collective is to create greater visibility, connection and support for culturally responsive researchers and practitioners working within systems change.
Too often, important intellectual contributions remain overlooked, particularly those emerging from scholars and practitioners whose perspectives have been shaped by lived experience, community knowledge and structural inequities. The Collective seeks to create space for these voices, not as an add-on to systems thinking, but as an essential source of innovation and insight.
